WHY JOIN ASHI NATIONAL?

Referral Service — ASHI’s “Find a Home Inspector” Section of the ASHI website.

As an ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI), and as an ASHI Inspector or Associate, your name and contact information will come up in the list when home owners, home buyers and real estate professionals select your city/state or zip code. You will be amazed at how many referrals you will receive.

MEMBERSHIP ADVANCEMENT

All ASHI members join as an Associate — regardless of your training or experience in the home inspection profession. Members cannot immediately advance to the ASHI Inspector category and to the ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) certification. Advancement is based on successful completion of the National Home Inspection Exam, Standard of Practice Education Module and passing the verification process of inspection reports. ACI’s are fully certified by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA), a third-party independent certifying agency. Being the only association for home inspectors accredited by NCCA allows certified inspectors to use the ACI acronym.

As an ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) you will have full use of the ASHI Gold logo — on your website, your literature, your vehicle and your ASHI clothing. This logo is recognized across North America as the Gold Standard in home inspecting. Real estate professionals often recommend only ASHI members.

As an ASHI Inspector you will have full use of the ASHI Inspector logo. This identifies you as an ASHI Inspector. You will have full use of this logo- on your website, your literature, your vehicle and your ASHI clothing.

For advancing to the ASHI Certified Inspector (ACI) and ASHI Inspector membership categories, you must have five of your recent residential inspection reports verified by an ASHI verifier. This is an excellent opportunity for you to determine the effectiveness and accuracy of the reports you provide your clients — and, successful verification provides part of your advancement to ACI membership.

CHAPTER INVOLVEMENT

You can become as active as you want in your local chapter structure. Over time you can run for leadership positions in the ASHI Council of Representatives, including Council members and Council leaders. It is the Council members who elect members to the ASHI Board of Directors.

WHY JOIN THE GARDEN STATE CHAPTER OF ASHI?

TO BECOME A MEMBER OF ANY ASHI CHAPTER, YOU MUST FIRST JOIN ASHI NATIONAL.

The Garden State Chapter of ASHI is New Jersey’s first organization of home inspectors.  For over 30 years, this Chapter has been providing resources to home inspectors at the local level.  Garden State was involved when licensing was conceived and offered guidance through the enactment process.  This Chapter has continually provided quality continuing education programs and networking opportunities to its membership.

Recent restructuring has afforded members the ability to obtain the same required CEU’s by attending fewer meetings which allows members more time to spend working on their businesses.  Meetings are scheduled during ‘slower’ months to allow members the chance to make the most out of the busier times without having to worry about attending meetings.

Meetings also provide updates from ASHI National, the Home Inspector Advisory Committee, and other news from within the profession.  A significant membership benefit is all members obtain their radon CEU class each year at no additional cost!  We also provide each of the required core CEU’s  for report writing, regulations, and ethics in our regular education sessions- we do not bundle them into seminars at additional cost to the member!  A hot buffet dinner is provided at every meeting and is included in your membership dues.

From this website, you will be listed on the Find an Inspector system, you will be able to interact with other inspectors via our members only forum, and you will be able to track your CEU’s, print your certificates, and pay for seminars and dues on line.
